Digital Hub Ruhr, based in Gelsenkirchen, is a cooperation of four companies including Verizon Business, connecting innovative IT and IoT applications within a global digital network. The support center offers young startups infrastructure, a strong network to academia, business, and research, as well as access to international innovation hubs. Open Innovation Lab, headquartered in Gelsenkirchen, offers a test area for piloting and implementing smart city solutions and new technologies. The lab targets individuals, startups, companies, research institutes, and public administrations that want to develop and test their ideas. Projects benefit both citizens and municipal administrations as well as businesses, while their transferability to other cities is examined. The platform enables the development of innovative solutions for concrete urban challenges.
