Hamburg startup programs for media, food, and aviation
Hamburg is a vertical city. Haus lists 16 programs and 21 communities, which is smaller than Berlin (37 / 54) or Munich (33 / 24) and denser than it looks once you care about media, food, games, music, or a harbour-adjacent buyer. The listings that still publish terms are Media Lift, Music WorX, Gamecity’s Games Lift, and IFB InnoFounder. Airbus BizLab, NMA, and NCA are names you should re-read on the live page before you build a quarter around them.
Media and music that still publish numbers
nextMedia.Hamburg’s Media Lift is the current media accelerator. The official page lists May to November 2026, remote plus Hamburg, five teams, no shares, and up to €12,000 in two €6,000 phases plus a €1,000 coaching budget. 2026 applications run 16 February to 12 April. You need a prototype or MVP, two to five people, and a product the content industry might actually use. They will not take a solo founder or an agency presented as a startup.
Music WorX, from Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, is the music-tech counterpart: three months, English, no equity, a €3,200 development budget, a €1,500 monthly living stipend, and desks in SPACE, with Reeperbahn Festival in the kickoff. Apply 4 May to 17 June 2026. Five teams are taken, and there are three mandatory Hamburg blocks. If you already finished a later-stage accelerator, they say this one is probably the wrong fit.
Food, games, and the IFB cheque
foodlab Hamburg is a HafenCity room with kitchens, coworking, and a café. It is privately run, and the FAQ does not list an investor. They rent kitchens from €90 for a half day to €295 for large catering. The site still talks about a Gastro Accelerator and a 2025 popup. It does not publish a current batch’s equity, stipend, or dates. Treat it as infrastructure first, and apply to a program second if a live one exists.
Gamecity Hamburg is the games desk. Games Lift is three months, up to five teams, mentoring, Code Working Space, and €15,000 per team. Prototype Funding is a non-repayable grant up to €80,000, with the next 2026 window from 4 to 24 September. IFB’s InnoFounder is the city cash: €2,500 per person per month at full time, 18 months max, €75,000 per team or €45,000 solo, for pre-founding and first-year companies with a scalable model. That is a grant, and it is also IFB paperwork, so you should budget weeks for the file.
Aviation and names that have changed shape
Airbus BizLab still describes a six-month accelerator with a Hamburg flagship, 90+ startups, coaches, and customers. It also says the collaboration model has moved toward “Airbus Scale” and “more to come.” Do not plan a 2026 calendar on a 2015-2019 press clip. If a live call exists, it will be on a current Airbus page. The older Finkenwerder memory is not enough on its own.
NMA says the next media accelerator ran from 2015 to 2021 (78 startups) and that the company is now NMA Venture Capital. NCA now describes 77 B2B investments from 2017 to 2025 and a corporate-innovation shop. Haus still lists both as Hamburg accelerators. Open the URL before you treat either name as an application this month. If there is no current apply path, the listing is history and you can move on.
