It is jointly organized by BioM and the Swedish SmiLe Incubator and is supported by Merck and the European Commission.

Participants in the Media Startup Fellowship program receive up to 40,000 euros in prototyping budget and coaching from subject matter experts. Supported technologies include digital tools and approaches that improve the film industry, while direct film project financing is excluded. International teams can apply but must demonstrate a business case for the German-speaking market.

The location in the Werksviertel at the Ostbahnhof positions startups centrally within Munich's startup ecosystem.

UnternehmerTUM's Women Start-up program supports technology-oriented female founders in the early stage through milestone-based training, coaching, and pitch preparation with direct access to mentors. Participants receive free workshops, empowerment training, and network access in more than 200 cities, as well as access to the Women Start-up Award with prize money and visibility. The program provides sustained support through the FI Venture Network with follow-on offerings and lifelong alumni access. The focus is on pre-seed scaling competencies, a tech focus, and increasing VC access for women in Bavaria.
